TLC Lions is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Special Projects who will be responsible for the end-to-end  execution of high-impact initiatives and projects that align with our TLC Lions goals. One of the key projects involved in this role is managing our TLC Lions Human Awards in Europe and the Americas, using their proven track record in project management, seamless execution and coordination to deliver our biannual awards across both continents. 

In addition, the successful candidate will also work closely with the team to manage other special projects on an ad-hoc  basis, bringing their exceptional communication, adaptability  and problem-solving  skills to oversee the success of the projects. The ideal candidate will thrive off working autonomously, demonstrating exceptional organisational skills to manage the full project yearly cycle. From diligently overseeing timelines, budgeting, and communicating with diverse stakeholders, this Director of Special Projects will play a pivotal role in the success of our initiatives and ensuring our mission is heard and felt globally.

*Please note this role is fully remote and some travel will be required for the role including meeting with various stakeholders, site visits and during team days together that are planned in advance. 

What does the role involve? (Responsibilities + Duties)

  • Strategy: Develop and implement a strategic vision for each special project aligning with TLC Lions’ goals and then execute on this at pace
  • Creative Opportunity: Identify opportunities for special projects that can enhance the TLC Lion’s impact or address specific challenges
  • TLC Lions Human Awards in Europe and the Americas: Taking ownership and overseeing the entire project lifecycle, from initiation to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to secure buy-in and support for various projects whilst adhering to the values of TLC Lions 
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with special projects to ensure successful outcomes
  • Budgets: Manage budgets for our Awards and special projects, ensuring financial resources are allocated efficiently and effectively
  • Innovation: Foster a culture of innovation within the TLC Lions, encouraging creative thinking and problem-solving. We focus on solutions not problems
  • Performance Evaluation: Evaluate the success and impact of special projects, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement in a timely manner
  • Reporting: Provide clear and concise reporting with clear communication to senior management on all projects under your remit
  • Team Leadership: Lead and inspire a team of professionals working on special projects, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment and empowering others 
  • Communication: Clear, direct and to the point communication that is solution focussed

What are we looking for? 

  • Proven track record in exceptional project management, including   major event coordination and delivery across diverse landscapes 
  • Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of every aspect of the project/s, from planning to execution, supplier management to budget control 
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with various & diverse stakeholders across multiple projects, including corporate clients with a keen eye on attention to detail and accuracy 
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to address issues as they arise and make quick, effective decisions including escalating where necessary 
  • Ability to work collaboratively, to listen, to share and engage 
  • Flexibility and adaptability to navigate unexpected challenges and changes throughout various projects with a positive mindset to find solutions to problems 
  • Strong negotiation skills to secure deals with suppliers, agencies, and other service providers
  • Desired experience of using Keynote / Powerpoint to create presentations 
Qualifications

5+ years project management experience with a focus on B2B events and communications
